WHEREAS：In 1969,the State of Michigan became the sister－state of the Prefecture of Shiga；and | 1969年、ミシガン州は滋賀県と姉妹州となつた。 |
WHEREAS：The City of Lansing,the Capital City of the State of Michigan,established a sister－city affiliation with the City of Otsu,Shiga Prefecture Japan on October 1,1969,for the purpose of creating goodwill and understanding as well as promoting cultural and economic interchange；and | ミシガン州の首都ランシング市は1969年10月1日、滋賀県大津市と姉妹関係を締結した。それは、文化並びに経済的相互関係を増進することはもとより、相互の親善と理解を創造するためであつた。 |
WHEREAS：This affiliation has been the foundation stone for the bonds of friendship which have grown between the people of our two states and our two cities；and | この締結が友情の契のための礎石となり、この契は両州と両市の住民の間に爾来、成長をつづけている。 |
WHEREAS：The Shiga Goodwill Mission from Shiga Prefecture,Japan,will be in Lansing August 9,through August 11,1976,for a goodwill visit； | 滋賀県よりの親善使節団は、親善訪問のために、1976年8月9日ランシング市に到着し、8月11日まで滞在するであろう。 |
NOW,THEREFORE,I,GERALD W.GRAVES,MAYOR OF THE CITY OF LANSING,by the power vested in me,do hereby proclaim Monday,August 9,1976,as：“SHIGA GOODWILL MISSION DAY IN LANSING"and urge all my fellow citizens to join with me in honoring our distinguished guests. | さて、以上の事実より、ランシング市長ゲラルドWグレーブスは信託された権利によつて、1976年8月9日の月曜日を“ランシング市の滋賀親善デー”として布告し、全市民各位も私とともに、わが著名なる来賓を歓迎されんことを期待する。 |
